2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid enters US production

Honda said in an official statement that Honda CR-V Hybrid 2023 will begin part of its production in the United States, as the hybrid powertrain system will be assembled at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio.

In this manner, Indiana Auto Plant (IAP) and East Liberty Auto Plant (ELP) Production of the Asian-brand vehicle officially begins, a key step in the company’s long-term electrification strategy.

Said motorization has been cataloged as Honda’s most powerful fourth-generation twin-engine hybrid-electric system, consisting of 2.0 liter Atkinson cycle V4 engine with enhanced smoothness, as well as two electrified motors, which are located on the axles of the car.

“Knowing the importance the hybrid CR-V will play in our overall electrification strategy, we are proud of the moment for Honda of Canada Mfg. as we lead the start of global production of the hybrid CR-V,” said Clement D’Souza, senior vice president of HCM, in a statement.

“The people at AEP have always supported the growth of our business and we are proud to be the sole supplier of this engine to our three CR-V chassis plants in North America. The team worked diligently to prepare production lines for casting, machining and assembly operations. This is an important step in the electrification of our business and our people will be ready to take on the challenge,” said Rick Riggle, AEP Enterprise Manager.

On the other hand, Gerald Bruch, TMP-O plant manager, was pleased with Honda’s move, which represents another step in the company’s intention to electrify its production. “The people at TMP-O are proud and excited to provide next generation components for the 2023 CR-V hybrid. We are fully committed to our electrified future and This is the first of many steps our people will take to help Honda achieve its goals for a carbon neutral future.”
