The HMZ-1M was created by looking after the American Harley-Davidson. In total, only 300 of these motorcycles were produced, and only one copy of the model has survived.

The Internet showed a unique motorcycle HMZ-1M 1931. This is the first serial bike of Ukrainian production. Details of the rarity were revealed on the Hyser website.

The first Ukrainian motorcycle was developed in Kharkov in the early 30s under the guidance of designer Soldatenko. It was created with Harley-Davidson in mind – they bought an American bike and went with it for a 4000km test rally.

The design of the front fork is borrowed from Harley-Davidson, and the drop-shaped gas tank is the signature feature of American motorcycles.

Ukrainian motorcycle KhMZ-1M was equipped with a 350 cc engine with a capacity of 8 liters. With. and 3-speed manual transmission. It accelerated to 90 km / h and consumed 3.5 liters per 100 km. Features of the model include chain drive, brakes on all wheels and two headlights.

The production of the KhMZ-1M was established at the Kharkov Automobile Assembly Plant. It was planned to produce 4,000 motorcycles and some of them to be sent to the army, but in the end only 300 were assembled.

The fact is that the central Soviet government did not want to produce motorcycles in Ukraine, and the assembly of the KhMZ-1M was stopped. But at the end of the 40s, the Ukrainian SSR was allowed, and the production of motor vehicles was established in Kiev.

Only one copy of the KhMZ-1M has survived to this day. It has been restored and is in a private collection.
