At the beginning of 2022, only 14 of the 60 car brands represented on the Russian car market remained. The foreign auto industry is represented only by Chinese brands.
In 2022, 46 foreign automakers left the Russian market – not a single European or American company remained. This was learned from a letter from the Russian Automobile Dealers Association, RIA Novosti reported.
If before the start of the full-scale occupation of Ukraine, there were 60 brands of passenger cars on the Russian car market, now only 14 are left, of which three brands are Russian (VAZ, GAZ and UAZ), and all foreign cars are Chinese (Changan, Chery, Dongfeng, Exeed, FAW) , Foton, GAC, Geely, Haval, JAC and Omoda).
New car sales in Russia continue to decline. In November, 46,403 cars were sold, which is 61.6% less than the same period last year.
The market leaders are VAZ (21,726 cars), Haval (4552 units) and GAZ (4224). Among the most mass-produced models is the Lada, and the bestsellers are the simplified “enforced” models without ABS and airbags.
The most popular cars in Russia:
- Lada Granta – 13,015 cars sold
- Lada Niva – 6898
- Cool Jolion – 2021
- Geely Coolray – 1678
- Air F7-1298
Previously Focus talked about the new crossovers “Moskvich”. They turned out to be Chinese JACs, and at the Russian factory they simply screwed the wheels.
