Another Tesla scam: Brake fraud detected in Model Y electric car (video)

A Tesla owner noticed plastic brake caliper pads on his Model Y Performance. The company has not yet commented on this.

Fake brake caliper pads have been spotted on Tesla Model Y Performance electric vehicles. This type of deception is associated with a change in suppliers of spare parts for the brand. This has surfaced on the Inside EVs website.

In the summer of 2022, Tesla changed rear brake suppliers for the Model Y Performance. Before that, the model was equipped with front and rear Brembo brakes, but they install parts from Mando on new cars.

In the Performance version, the Model Y electric car is equipped with 450 hp electric motors. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.5 seconds.

Such a quick change requires high-performance brakes. However, the Tesla Model Y Performance uses the same rear brake calipers as the weaker Long Range version.

To prevent the deception from being so obvious, Tesla puts plastic pads on the rear brake calipers. They visually enlarge them, but are completely useless when braking.

Tesla’s website states that the Model Y Performance is equipped with a high-performance “Performance Brakes” braking system. But nothing to say about the plastic pads on the rear calipers.

Previously Focus He wrote that the Korea Fair Trade Commission fined Tesla $2.2 million for false advertising.
