In Paris, the iconic 1961 Citroen 2CV was displayed at the Artcurial Motor Show. The famous budget model is planned to be sold at a fairly high price of 80,000 to 120,000 euros in the new Porsche Cayenne level. Details of the car appeared on the auction house’s website.
Mass Citroen 2CV has never been more expensive. In total, more than 5 million of these cars were produced, and new ones were half the price of the budget Volkswagen Beetle. Now they’re affordable classics too.
The high price of the Citroen 2CV is due to the fact that a very rare all-terrain version of the Sahara is up for auction. In fact, this is the world’s first crossover.
The design of the Citroen 2CV Sahara is very original. It immediately has two 375 cc 12-horsepower engines: one turns the front wheels, the second turns the rear wheels.
This applies all-wheel drive and the rear engine can be turned off to save fuel. The maximum speed is 105 km/h with two engines and 64 km/h with one engine.
Only 694 Citroen 2CV Sahara have been produced since 1958. Only 27 of these unique cars have survived, which is the reason for their high cost.
