TOP 10 most economical new cars with petrol engines

Experts have identified the most economical new cars with gasoline engines. They consume less than 7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. This was reported on the wheels.ca website.

To get a car with low fuel consumption, drivers often choose hybrid models. However, they are more expensive than their gasoline counterparts.

The experts used Natural Resources Canada’s fuel rating search tool. Results were sorted by combined, city, and highway cycle.

Top 10 new petrol cars with the lowest fuel consumption:

10 Nissan Strikes

Fuel consumption:

• on the highway – 6.6 liters per 100 km
• in the city – 7.7 liters per 100 km
• in the combined cycle – 7.2 liters per 100 km

The Nissan Kicks crossover is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with 122 hp. The all-wheel drive version has more traction, but the front-wheel drive version is more economical.

9. Kia Rio

Fuel consumption:

• on the highway – 6.1 liters per 100 km
• in the city – 7.2 liters per 100 km
• in the combined cycle – 6.7 liters per 100 km

One of the smallest Kia models is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with 120 hp. The hatchback with manual transmission consumes only 6.1 liters of gasoline on the highway.

Fuel consumption:

• in the city – 8.2 liters per 100 km
• in the combined cycle – 7.2 liters per 100 km

Under the hood of the Kia Forte sedan is a 2.0-liter engine with 147 hp. It works in conjunction with an efficient variator.

7 Nissan Sentra

Fuel consumption:

• in the city – 8.0 liters per 100 km
• in the combined cycle – 7.1 liters per 100 km

The Nissan Sentra sedan is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine with 149 hp. The power unit is paired with a variator.

6 Honda Civic

Fuel consumption:

• on the highway – 6.0 liters per 100 km
• in the city – 7.7 liters per 100 km
• in the combined cycle – 6.9 liters per 100 km

Honda offers two different engines for the Civic. They differ in power, but fuel consumption is almost the same. However, the 158bhp 2.0-liter engine available in the LX and Sport trims is more fuel efficient.

• in the city – 7.4 liters per 100 km
• in the combined cycle – 6.7 liters per 100 km

The Nissan Versa can be purchased with a manual transmission or a CVT automatic transmission. Both transmissions are paired with a 122-hp 1.6-liter engine.

Fuel consumption:

• on the highway – 5.7 liters per 100 km
• in the city – 7.7 liters per 100 km
• in the combined cycle – 6.8 liters per 100 km

The Volkswagen Jetta sedan is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine producing 158 hp. The most economical is the six-speed manual transmission.

• in the city – 7.4 liters per 100 km
• in the combined cycle – 6.7 liters per 100 km

The popular Toyota Corolla sedan is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine with 169 hp. The variator allows you to achieve fuel consumption of 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.
