Experts have identified the most economical new cars with gasoline engines. They consume less than 7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. This was reported on the wheels.ca website.
To get a car with low fuel consumption, drivers often choose hybrid models. However, they are more expensive than their gasoline counterparts.
The experts used Natural Resources Canada’s fuel rating search tool. Results were sorted by combined, city, and highway cycle.

10 Nissan Strikes
Fuel consumption:
- on the highway – 6.6 liters per 100 km
- in the city – 7.7 liters per 100 km
- in the combined cycle – 7.2 liters per 100 km
The Nissan Kicks crossover is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with 122 hp. The all-wheel drive version has more traction, but the front-wheel drive version is more economical.
9. Kia Rio
Fuel consumption:
- on the highway – 6.1 liters per 100 km
- in the city – 7.2 liters per 100 km
- in the combined cycle – 6.7 liters per 100 km
