US luxury automaker to launch low-cost electric trucks

The B-ON electric car is offered in versions with a payload of 885 to 1320 kg. The range of the commercial model is between 147 and 202 km.

Production of low-cost commercial electric vehicles B-ON begins in the USA. They will be produced at Karma Automotive’s facilities in California. The Electrive website reports this.

The Karma brand is known for its luxury hybrid cars worth over $100,000. Demand for them has fallen in recent years, so the Americans decided to produce more affordable models. They plan to produce up to 30,000 B-ONs per year.

The B-ON electric car is an improved version of the StreetScooter model developed by the German postal company Deutsche Post DHL Group for its own needs. It has been produced since 2015 and recently these cars started to appear in Ukraine.

In 2020, Deutsche Post DHL Group closed its automotive business, but bought the car license and decided to return it to production. At the same time, the StreetScooter electric car was modernized. The exact cost of the car has not been disclosed, but it is known that even in its most expensive version, it will not exceed $ 40 thousand.

The B-ON is a 5.8 m long two-seater light truck, offered as a minibus or bare chassis with a cargo volume of 12 cc. The car’s equipment includes a digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, light sensor and heated seats.
