The price of some popular cars has increased in Ukraine: how did prices change in January?

In January, the models with 10 thousand dollars took the biggest share in the used car market. Prices of some of the most popular cars in Ukraine have increased over the past month.

Experts analyzed the dynamics of changes in car prices in Ukraine in January 2023. They named the models whose price rose or fell in the last month. Details are provided on the Automotive Research Institute’s website.

For price analysis, we used data from 100 automobile sites in Ukraine. It has been known how car prices change, especially in different regions of our country.

In January 2023, the share of cars under $10,000 was 78.2%. Passenger cars with a price of up to 5 thousand dollars occupied 49.5% of the market.

The market share for cars priced between $10,000 and $20,000 was 15.6%, down 3.3% from January 2022. Car models from 20 to 50 thousand dollars received 5.4%.

The share of cars worth more than $50,000 is expected to be the lowest. Only 0.8% of the cars sold are included in this price category.

Average car price in January

The median price of a used car in January 2023 was $5,150. This is the lowest figure in the last 12 months.

Despite this, the price of not all cars did not fall. For example, the BMW 3 Series increased by an average of $125, the Volkswagen Passat and Renault Megane by $150 and the BMW 5 Series by an average of $500.

However, the Ford Focus ($50), Mercedes-Benz E-Class ($250) and Audi A6 ($300) dropped in January. The cost of the other 12 most popular models of the past month has either increased or remained at the same level.

Average cost of cars in January by region

The cheapest cars were sold in the most war-torn parts of Ukraine. More expensive cars were presented in Kiev and the Kiev region. There, the average cost was fixed at $7,000.

The second place in terms of car cost was taken by the Transcarpathian region. There, the average price of a used car was $6,500. Lviv region took third place with 6459 dollars.

The lowest price for used cars was recorded in the Kherson region. Cars in this region sold for an average of $2,800.
