Subaru plans to release a compact and inexpensive pickup truck based on the Forester and Impreza (photo)

The Subaru pickup is positioned as the successor to the Brat and Baja models. The rivals of the new model, which will have a monocoque body, will be Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.

A new model may soon appear in the Subaru lineup, a compact and affordable pickup truck. This was announced to the reporters of Cars Guide by the general manager of Subaru Blair Reid’s Australian representation.

According to him, Subaru marketers are now examining demand in the market and see that brand customers are interested in a pickup truck. It is noteworthy that most compact monocoque pickups, such as the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz, are of interest, not large-frame models such as the Ford F-150 and Toyota Hilux.

The new Subaru pickup will belong to the compact class. It will be a relative of the Forester, Outback and Impreza models, as it will be built on the same Subaru Global Platform architecture.

Thus, the new model will be the successor to the Subaru Brat and Baja pickup trucks – these pickups also had a monocoque body and were built on the basis of passenger models.

So far, details of the new model are scarce. Subaru’s pickup is expected to receive the brand’s signature permanent all-wheel drive system and be powered by boxer four-cylinder engines.

Previously Focus reported that a cheap and economical Peugeot pickup truck will appear in Ukraine.
