Not everyone liked the new formula for customs clearance of cars. Bills will need to be revised before they can be reconsidered.
The Verkhovna Rada did not approve of the bills on the customs clearance of cars through the “Diya”. They did not get the required votes. This was announced by the deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak, First Deputy Chairman of the Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, said that a total of 212 deputies voted on the bill No. 7466 on the customs clearance of cars in Diy. In addition, only 206 deputies supported the amendments regarding the amendment of the vehicle registration procedure in the Customs Law No. 7468.
The decision came as a surprise, as Mikhail Fedorov, head of the Ministry of Digital Development, and Daniil Getmantsev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Committee, supported these bills. They stated that digitalization should make the customs clearance process of cars more transparent and faster.
Also, registering a car in “Dії” will exclude any corruption schemes at customs. However, this was not enough.
Against Ukrainian car dealers
We have already mentioned that the bills for customs clearance of cars through “Diya” are criticized by the All-Ukraine Association of Auto Importers and Dealers. They believe the changes are against European legislation and the association agreement with the EU and will reduce revenues to the state budget.
The main problem is the new customs clearance formula. It can contribute to the import of old cars into Ukraine.
