In the USSR, only the authorities drove this car, and in 1992 it was delivered to Poltava. They plan to earn over UAH 1.2 million for Chaika.
In Poltava, a rare executive sedan GAZ-14 “Chaika” was put up for auction. The car is in excellent condition and has a rich history. This was reported on the News website of the Poltava region.
Officials and heads of government went to the USSR with the “Seagulls”. The GAZ-14 first rolled off the assembly line in 1977, and for over 12 years, only 1114 of this model were produced.
At one time GAZ-14 “Chaika” could not be bought. The car was designed for ministers of the Union republics, first secretaries of regional committees and managers of large strategic enterprises.
The car, put up for auction, is on the balance sheet of the Municipal Authority for the Maintenance of Poltava Administrative Buildings. This sedan was released in 1980.
The Poltava company “Chaika” arrived in 1992. Boris Yeltsin was transported in this car while working in the Moscow City Committee of the CPSU.
In Poltava, the car was operated only for high-level guests visiting the area. According to rumors, one of them was Vladimir Shcherbitsky, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine in 1972-1989.
Later, the “Seagull” was used only as a wedding car. For the last 3-4 years the sedan has been in the garage, so they decided to sell it at auction.
An independent cost assessment showed that the car cost about 700 thousand UAH. Still, the owners want to get at least UAH 1.2 million for Chaika, which will be the starting price at the auction. All proceeds will be used to improve the material and technical base of the business.
The GAZ-14 “Seagull” is equipped with a 5.5-liter V8 gasoline engine with a capacity of 220 hp. and 451 Nm of torque. It is paired with a three-speed automatic transmission.
The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 15 seconds. The maximum speed is 175 km/h.
Previously Focus reported that a non-standard modified “Seagull” GAZ-13 was traveling in Canada.
