Ferrari will keep the engine sound in its electric cars

Enzo Ferrari once said, “I don’t sell cars, I sell engines.” This phrase has forever entered into the essence of Ferrari, given that one of the main attractions when purchasing its models lies in the explosive and exciting sound emitted by the powertrains. But what will happen when they are 100% covered by electrification?

Without a doubt, this question is a “problem” for many brands involved in the marketing of sports cars, since the sound produced by internal combustion engines is the main reason for their elegance.

Faced with such a scenario, Ferrari has its back as the Italians plan to increase the engine noise of their electric supercars, Bloomberg reports (based on Oddo BHF analysts).

The report claims that Ferrari’s electric supercars will feature a unique and distinctive engine noise generated by the boost system following the filing of a patent filed by the Maranello-based company for “a sound reproduction device that can be connected to an electric motor.” motor”.

In this way, Ferrari will be able to amplify surround sound and transmit it to one or more electric motors, which could be implemented in its first electrified production supercar, which will hit the automotive market in 2025.

Ferrari plans

The transition to the electrification of the automotive market is a reality for everyone. In the case of Ferrari, it took some time, as it will not give birth to its first 100% electric car until 2025, which is considered one of the most anticipated models in the industry due to the relevance of the brand in the sector. .

During an investor meeting held in Maranello in June 2022, the Prancing Horse revealed that 15 new vehicles will arrive between that period and 2026, with up to three different powerplants.

However, by 2026, 60% of the brand’s vehicles are expected to have electrified models, either hybrid or fully battery powered, with the remaining 40% running on gasoline.
