The new bill will help reduce the cost of cars in Ukraine: what do lawmakers propose?

The Verkhovna Rada has registered a bill proposing the abolition of mandatory certification of imported cars. This was said at the Automotive Research Institute.

The bill was initiated by a group of deputies headed by Maryan Zablotsky. The document also provides changes to the automatic certification procedure.

What does the bill propose?

If the relevant law passes, certification will become optional for most cars imported from other countries. This will lower the average prices of used cars.

Now in Ukraine there are technical requirements for vehicles imported from abroad. To check them, a certification procedure is carried out, which costs an average of 2500 UAH.

Deputies proposed the recognition of certificates of conformity with technical regulations issued in European Union countries. Documents received in Russia and Belarus will be considered invalid.

In addition, the bill will save drivers from going through additional procedures for customs clearance and vehicle registration. It will be sufficient to provide documents regarding registration and ownership.

As a result, only cars without registration documents will need to be certified. Among them are also “decommissioned” cars from other countries.

What will change in the used car market?

The requirements for environmental standards will remain unchanged. It will be possible to import to Ukraine cars not lower than Euro-2, as well as trucks and buses not lower than Euro-5.

Marian Zablotsky noted that the adoption of the bill would save Ukrainians tens of millions of dollars. The average cost of imported used cars will decrease by at least $ 100-200.
