Electric Nissan Ariya will travel around the world in a few months: from the South Pole to the North Pole

Fearless electric vehicle explorers, Chris and Julie Ramsey, began their pole-to-pole expedition (last March) surrounded by the vast ice-covered Arctic Ocean. After a thorough safety assessment, the team set off from the 1823 magnetic north pole on a journey that would span over 27,000 kilometers through North, Central and South America, with the ultimate goal of reaching the most remote part of the world. South Pole of Antarctica in December.

During the expedition, electric adventurers will face numerous challenges, including extreme weather and difficult terrain, while highlighting the capabilities and reliability of electric vehicles as they strive to see if the Ramsey team can pull off this unprecedented feat.

The task of traveling from pole to pole has never been accomplished by vehicle, but the Pole to Pole team is taking on a historic challenge with a 100% electric vehicle. Chris and Julie undertook this feat to showcase the capabilities and excitement of these vehicles with the Nissan Ariya.

In doing so, they hope that the value of electrified cars will drive their adoption as a positive measure against the climate crisis. On their way to the South Pole of Antarctica, they face numerous obstacles, but the team continues to move forward, determined to achieve their goal of traveling more than 27,000 km in an electric vehicle.

The journey has been a source of inspiration and hope for those concerned about climate change, and many are following this feat with interest to see if the Pole to Pole team can complete their historic journey.

modified nissan aria

The Nissan Ariya has received some minor modifications so that it can handle the extreme terrain the team will encounter on their journey. The car is fitted with massive 39-inch tires, which were installed after raising the suspension and widening the wheel arches, which will allow the car to “float” in deep snow and sea ice.

Despite these modifications, the battery, transmission and e-4ORCE system, which is Nissan’s advanced four-wheel steering technology, remain standard. As the Pole to Pole team moves towards their ultimate goal of reaching the South Pole of Antarctica, the Nissan Ariya has proven to be a reliable choice for such a challenging journey.
