In summer, dipped beams are not mandatory outside the city during daylight hours. Drivers who do not turn on the lights are not fined.
On May 1, the so-called “summer” edition of the Ukrainian traffic rules comes into force. This means that starting tomorrow, drivers won’t have to turn on their dipped headlights outside the city during daylight hours.
As you know, Article 9.8 of the Rules of the Road. Paragraph 1 provides that from 1 October to 1 May always the main or dipped headlights are switched on outside of residential areas.
This requirement is due to short daylight hours and difficult weather conditions, as well as poor visibility on the roads in the autumn-winter period. Naturally, the car is more visible when the lights are on.
In addition, article 9.8 of the SDA of Ukraine establishes a fine in the amount of 425 to 510 hryvnia for not turning on the dipped beam on the highway. From May 1 to October 1, this penalty does not threaten drivers because daylight hours are longer and visibility is generally better.
Also, in some cities of Ukraine in summer, it is allowed to increase the speed limit to 80 km/h on certain roads. In Kiev, this limit has already been introduced.
Previously Focus He reported that Ukraine could introduce new fines for traffic violations by pedestrians.
