Citroen, Peugeot and Opel will offer cheap commercial vans for 12,000 euros

Commercial models from Citroen, Peugeot and Opel can be converted to electric vehicles. Such vans will become a more affordable alternative to new electric cargo vehicles.

Stellantis plans to give a second life to old diesel-powered pickup trucks. They will be converted into electric cars. Xavier Peugeot, president of Stellantis’ commercial vehicle division, told Automotive News Europe.

The commercial vehicle electrification program will start in 2024. Its goal is to make zero-emission pickup trucks more affordable for businesses. The car will be remanufactured by the French company Qinomic, which specializes in such tuning.

Initially, Citroen Jumpy, Opel Vivaro and Peugeot Expert minibuses will be converted to electric vehicles. If the trial is successful, the model list will be expanded.

It is stated that converting the minibus into an electric car will cost approximately 20 thousand euros. However, Stellantis hopes that 40% of this amount will be covered by state subsidies, meaning that car owners will only have to pay 12,000 euros. New electric vans are much more expensive.

The features of the electric Citroen Jumpy, Opel Vivaro and Peugeot Expert have not been announced. Xavier Peugeot said their range would be “sufficient”.

For reference: The new Peugeot Expert, Citroen Jumpy and Opel Vivaro are produced with a 136 horsepower electric motor and are equipped with 50 and 75 kWh batteries. The power reserve is 224 and 350 km respectively.

Meanwhile, the earlier classic Ford Mustangs of the 60s began to be converted into electric cars.

Moreover Focus Reported that a cheap Citroen electric car will appear in Ukraine.
