Nissan will return to the European compact city car segment with electric cars. Two inexpensive models with a power reserve of up to 400 km are under development.
Two inexpensive electric models will appear in the Nissan lineup. They will be developed jointly with Renault. According to the British publication Autocar, information about their appearance has already been officially confirmed.
Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida, who visited the Renault Ampere facility in France, noted that the Japanese brand will return to the compact city car segment with electric cars on the new Ampr Small platform. Cooperation with Renault will accelerate new model development and reduce its cost.
The first model to hit the market in 2025 will be the electric successor of the Nissan Micra. Teasers have already been released and show that the four-metre B-class hatchback is based on the Renault 5 E-Tech. This means it will be offered in versions with power up to 150 horsepower and a range of up to 400 km. Its price starts from approximately 25,000 Euros.
The second model will be even cheaper – from 20,000 euros. It will be based on the revived Renault Twingo, which will become an electric car as we know it. It will be a compact A-Class hatchback with a length of approximately 3.6 m. It won’t be released before 2026.
By the way, we recently saw during testing the new Nissan Leaf 2025, which will be a crossover.
