Over 30,000 elderly people received help Mexico City Civic Council during the last 19 months.
From January 2021 to July this year, the Council provided 31,832 services to the elderly. People over 70 need help the most. 41.5% of cases. 60 percent of the total were for women.
On the eve of Grandparents’ Day, which is celebrated this Sunday, August 28, the agency presented a report “Golden Age, the needs of the elderly”where it is established that the most requested services are: support against fraud and extortion, instruction in procedures and services, emotional support.
After people over 70 years old, the next age group in terms of demand for services are people from 61 to 65 years old with 32.5% and from 66 to 70 years old with 26%.
Prevention and attention to crimes of fraud and extortion, including modus montadeudas, account for 25.9 percent of total support; while 20.4 percent reported Silver line and trusted chat 55 5533 5533 to request advice on various treatments and services.
“Psychological help was provided to 1 in 3 older people who, in addition to asking for reports or legal advice, wanted to be heard on issues such as depression, grief or family problems,” said organization president Salvador Guerrero Chipres.
With regard to domestic violence, the Council supported 1,450 older women who, unlike younger and older women, reported that in 54.8 per cent of cases, the main aggressors are sons and daughters, not the partner.

In 82 per cent of the cases, requests for assistance came from mexico city and 17 percent of other subjects, in addition, attention was paid to people from 11 countries in Latin America and Europe.
As part of the Citizens Council Attention and Dignity Model, 572 seniors received up to 12 free psychotherapy sessions at our Emotional Recovery Centers located in each of our four locations.
Guerrero Chipres said the Citizens’ Council will continue to support, guide and, above all, listen with empathy to all older people because “we believe that dignified aging is possible with the participation of all.”
