The Hungarian authorities cannot do without Russian energy supplies, including natural gas. This was stated on Saturday by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Peter Szijjarto, during a short conversation with journalists of the information agencies TANJUG.
“We buy gas in Russia because this is the reality of the region. As long as you can’t carry gas in a backpack or on a train, you must use a gas pipeline“, Szijjarto said.
In addition, the head of the Foreign Ministry stressed that Hungary’s dependence on blue fuel supplies from Russia is due not only to a shortage of energy resources in the world, but also to the geography of the region.
The diplomat also added that the refusal to supply Russian natural gas could lead to “the collapse of the Hungarian industry.” According to him, the Hungarian government has no right to refuse to purchase energy resources from Russia, because in this case the country will be without heating in the autumn-winter period.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister for Political Affairs Balazs Orban said that the country is actively filling gas storage facilities, it is moving ahead of schedule, 141% of winter gas consumption has already been accumulated.
