Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia is reducing oil production by 2 million barrels per day. This decision was made after discussing the global economy with OPEC+ countries.

As Novak stressed, the growth rate in the global economy turned out to be lower than previously predicted. In 2022 alone, the figures fell by 1.5 percent, and forecasts for 2023 are still in the process of being developed.

“The global economy is slowing down, there are signs of a recession that many are talking about. Therefore, it was decided to reduce quotas by 2 million barrels per day and extend the OPEC + general agreement for the whole of 2023”Novak said.

Note that the White House accused the OPEC + countries of solidarity with Russia due to the fact that they supported the idea of reducing oil production. Washington considered these measures “erroneous.”
