The dollar strengthened due to the growth in demand for the currency and the deterioration of investor expectations regarding the economic situation and may continue to grow. He drew attention to the fact that investors, amid the aggravation of the situation with coronavirus in China, turned to US Treasury bonds. This, according to the expert, contributed to the flow of liquidity into the US currency and dollar assets.
Also, the growth of the dollar index to about 107.5 points was affected by the statements of representatives of the Federal Reserve System (FRS) to raise the rate and fixing the income of bidders on “short” positions.
Zvarich added that the dollar may continue to strengthen on the release of weak macroeconomic data on Europe and the US, which will once again worsen investors’ fears.
Earlier, financier Diana Stepanova pointed to a drop in Russian interest in the dollar.
