In the event of a power outage, the Kyiv metro will be completely stopped – Klitschko

Metro stations will only be used as shelters and buses will go to all surface transport routes.

The Kyiv metro will stop working in case of new missile attacks and power outages by the RF Armed Forces. This was announced on the Telegram channel by the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitaliy Klitschko.

According to him, Ukrainians should be prepared for worst-case scenarios, as Russia aims to deprive the civilian population of electricity, water and heating in winter.

In an emergency, as Vitali Klitschko assures, Kiev’s infrastructure will continue to operate in very difficult conditions. If the Russian Armed Forces launches new missile strikes that will lead to power outages, buses will go to all land transport routes in the capital.

In the event of a power outage, the Kyiv metro will not operate, and the metro stations will be used as temporary accommodation for people.

In an emergency and power cut, metro services will be stopped. 45 underground metro stations will work as temporary residence points for people and shelter in case of alarm. Entry to the stations will be free, but you need to have an identity document with you “, – continued Klitschko, explaining the possible restrictions in Kiev.

As the mayor assures, the following will be available at metro stations:

  • Internet;
  • thanks to electricity, through which citizens can charge their devices;
  • drinking water;
  • sanitary facilities.

In addition, as Vitali Klitschko said, citizens must wear winter clothes, as the average air temperature in metro stations is +12…+14 degrees.

The day before, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, urged residents of the Ukrainian capital to leave temporarily. According to him, the city risks being without district heating and electricity in winter due to missile attacks by the Russian Armed Forces. This will cause the air temperature in the apartments to drop to the street temperature.

It has been reported that DTEK has also included 750 multi-apartment buildings in Kiev on the power outage list.
