By 2025, the main pipeline from Yakutia to China will supply 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The Chinese hope that this will help the development of the eastern parts of the country.
China has completed the construction of a major part of the Power of Siberia pipeline, which transports natural gas from Russia to Shanghai. This was reported by the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
As mentioned, the natural gas pipeline in China starts in the border city of Heihe and ends in the Chinese metropolis. On this road, the highway passes through nine provinces, autonomous regions and central cities.
At present, the section of the Tai’an-Taixing gas pipeline is officially operational.
The total length of the main pipeline is 5111 km. It is expected to supply 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Yakutia by 2025.
“The key energy corridor will give a strong impetus to energy security and the qualitative development of the eastern regions of the country,” they say in China.
In the first half of this year, gas pumping through the pipeline increased by 63% to 7.5 billion cubic meters.
Recall that Russia is preparing to build the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline to increase the supply of natural gas to China. Russia plans to sell 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to China through its new pipeline. The parties have already agreed on all delivery terms, including the price.
It was previously learned that Gazprom has reduced its gas exports to countries outside the CIS by 45% this year.
