Ukraine changes its social assistance payment scheme: what will change after the new year

Automatic payments will be made only to Ukrainians living in the occupied territories or areas where active hostilities continue.

in Ukraine since January 1, 2023 removal of automatic accruals for certain types of benefits. Therefore, according to the website of the Government Portal, Ukrainians will have to contact the relevant authorities and apply for an extension of payments.

In the Council of Ministers Decision dated 15 November 2022 and numbered 1320, it is stated that the changes are related to the following types of aid:

  • state social assistance to low-income families;
  • alimony for single mothers;
  • assistance to children in custody or care;
  • temporary state aid for children whose parents refuse to pay child support, are unable to support the child or whose place of residence is unknown;
  • temporary state social assistance to a working person who has reached general retirement age but has not received the right to a pension;
  • state social assistance to persons with disabilities and children with disabilities from childhood;
  • state social assistance to persons not entitled to a pension and persons with disabilities;
  • benefits for families with multiple children, which are pre-appointed taking into account income;
  • free meal certificates for children of low-income families in educational institutions.

At the same time, payments under the same types of assistance will be automatically accrued to Ukrainians living in the occupied territories or in areas where active hostilities continue.

The remaining Ukrainians must submit a new application from January 1, 2023 to extend the payments. You can do this:

  • in social security authorities;
  • centers for the provision of administrative services (TSNAPy);
  • with authorized community representatives.

Previously Focus He said that Ukrainians are allowed to withdraw money at supermarket checkouts, and this possibility also applies to pension payments. On December 13, Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Vitaliy Muzychenko noted that such an opportunity now exists, especially in the ATB chain of stores. But even at the very beginning of the war this service appeared in other retail chains. For example:

  • “Silpo” (up to 6000 UAH);
  • Handicap (up to UAH 6000);
  • FOZZY (up to 6000 UAH);
  • VARUS (up to 6000 UAH);
  • Tray (up to 6000 UAH);
  • Thrash! (up to UAH 6000), “Points” (up to UAH 6000).

Financial assistance was also reported for some Ukrainian migrants from the charity BHA&Save the Children. The amount of the payment, which will be credited to the bank card for three consecutive months after the application is approved, is 2.2 thousand UAH.
