“30% open”: Klitschko told how real the collapse of the Kyiv energy system is

According to the mayor of Kyiv, the situation in the capital is becoming critical, as Ukraine’s critical infrastructure is destroyed by the Russian army and the air temperature is below zero.

The collapse of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure can happen at any time due to the constant rocket attacks on the RF Armed Forces. This statement was made by the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, during the World Economic Forum held in Davos.

Kiev’s infrastructure could collapse at any moment, as Russia’s occasional missile attacks and freezing winter temperatures push Kiev even more.

“We’re not talking about collapse, but it could happen at any moment (because, – ed.) Russian missiles could destroy our critical infrastructure in Kiev,” Klitschko said.

The mayor of Kyiv has already stated that the energy deficit in the Ukrainian capital is 30%.

“It’s pretty cold in Ukraine now, so it’s almost impossible to live without electricity and heating. The situation is critical. We are fighting to survive,” Klitschko said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting.

Recall that on January 16, DTEK spoke about the situation with energy supply in Kiev. According to YASNO General Manager Sergey Kovalenko, only 974 MW of the 1600 MW electricity required today was allocated to the capital, he said, the situation is difficult.

DTEK Executive Director Dmitry Sakharuk also warned on January 15 that emergency cuts in Ukraine could be prolonged. He said households should prepare for “hard weeks” as it will take a long time for power engineers to rebuild damaged infrastructure.
