The Foreign Ministry said that more and more countries are trying to join the SCO

The number of applications for countries to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is increasing. This was announced by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for SCO Affairs, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Khakimov during his visit to Beijing.

“Naturally, when something good is created in the process of development, then this good begins to attract attention. It is no coincidence that the number of applications for joining the SCO in one form or another is growing in ascending order.“, said the politician.

He recalled that Iran and Belarus would soon join the SCO member states, namely Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. He also revealed that work is being completed on formalizing a dialogue partnership with Bahrain, Kuwait, the Maldives, Myanmar and the United Arab Emirates.

Khakimov added that there is also a list of countries that have applied to the organization.

Earlier it became known that Saudi Arabia expressed a desire to join the SCO and BRICS.
