Economist Mikhail Belyaev said that the American banking crisis will not affect Russia in any way, because domestic banks rely on the national economy of the Russian Federation and their own clients. He expressed this opinion in an interview with Lenta.ru.

According to the expert, the impact of US domestic economic problems on the Russian economy will be minimal, because Russian banks are still inscribed in the global international context, although not much due to recent events.

The economist also noted that the American economy is now really going through some difficulties.

“Growth rates have slowed down, but the main problem is inflation, which occurred not because of an excess of money, but as a result of sanctions against Russia: prices jumped in the fuel and energy sector, which provoked an increase in the cost of goods”Belyaev said.

The expert explained that the traditional method of fighting inflation is to raise the key rate. The United States also uses it, they raised the rate to 5%. However, the problem is that the States are not used to such high rates, they are not adapted to them.

This has had an impact on startups in the high-tech segment, which are already unstable on their own, Belyaev said.

In general, according to the economist, the US banking crisis is a crisis of individual banks. Belyaev believes that, most likely, the United States will be able to successfully overcome it, so one should not expect serious consequences for either the global or Russian economies.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is insured by sanctions against the banking crisis that has now unfolded in the United States.
