“The main flow of cargo is now from West to East, and the load on the transport system has increased. There was no such thing that we got a failure somewhere and the goods got stuck in Russia, and did not go to the Primorsky port or to China. But nevertheless, a new direction turns out to be necessary, Koltashov said.
According to the political scientist, the Northern Sea Route is ready to become such a direction. It already has a bandwidth that it did not have in Soviet times. In addition, the load increased on the railways.
“The Northern Sea Route is developing and will continue to develop, providing great opportunities for the transportation of goods. This will be the direction where the flow of ships will increase,” Vasily Koltashov predicted.
He also stressed that the Northern Sea Route, due to its geography, is protected from actions by unfriendly countries and, given the unfriendly attitude of the collective West towards China, it can become the safest and most secure route for China.
“Here, of course, we already see opportunities for such a development of cooperation between our countries, which are even greater than the allied ones. This is the protection of each other’s interests in order to jointly ensure economic growth and the development of production and trade,” – summed up Koltashov.
