A possible slowdown in business activity in the US, which risks turning into a recession, together with the strengthening of the dollar and high interest rates of the Federal Reserve, could seriously affect the global economy. About it declared in the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“The combination of higher US interest rates, a stronger dollar and a sharp slowdown in activity will create significant negative macro-financial consequences for the rest of the world”the organization said in a statement.
The IMF drew attention to the fact that near-term US growth could be better than expected, but this, according to experts, will only indicate that “the economy will slow down more sharply (possibly in 2024).” Because of this, while maintaining a tight monetary policy, a recession will occur.
Earlier, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva said that a number of countries are gradually refusing to use the dollar in world trade.
