Pension indexation will not be carried out for working pensioners, former prosecutor’s office employees, those who receive monthly lifetime allowances and pensions whose pensions exceed the upper limit of UAH 20,930 established by law.
In 2023, not all categories of pensioners in Ukraine will be able to count on an increase in pension payments. Below are the categories of citizens who will not wait for the recalculation of pensions. This was told by the NV.Business publication.
In March 2023, more than 10.5 million pensioners in Ukraine received indexation of their payments. According to the data, pensions on average increased by 19.7%, which is about 600 UAH.
In March 2023, the indexation of pensions did not affect four categories of Ukrainians:
- Working pensioners with a sufficiently low insurance record and an estimated pension of less than 2,100 UAH;
- retirees who previously worked in the prosecutor’s office;
- pensioners whose pensions exceed the legal maximum of 20,930 UAH;
- retirees who receive monthly lifetime allowances, such as judges.
In 2023, pensions in Ukraine were increased twice, in March and April. The third salary increase is scheduled for July.
Scientists, civil servants and employees of self-government bodies
In July, pensions will be indexed for about 300 thousand representatives of the following professions:
- Scientists: Includes employees of scientific institutions, researchers, professors, teachers, and other experts in the field of science.
- Officers: Includes employees of government agencies and organizations at various levels, including ministries, ministries, administrations, and other government agencies.
- Local government employees: Includes municipal employees working in local governments, provincial and village governments, assemblies and boards.
Working retirees
Payments for working pensioners were automatically recalculated, but the increased amounts have not yet been accrued to citizens. In the summer period, they will receive an allowance for three months at once, in April, May and June.
Compensation payments by age
In accordance with the established norms, monthly compensation payments will be made to pensioners whose pension does not exceed 10,340 UAH. The amount of these payments will depend on the age of the pensioner:
- Persons over 80 will be paid 570 UAH;
- Persons aged 75 to 80 years will be paid 456 UAH;
- Persons aged 70 to 75 years will be paid 300 hryvnia.
On average, pensions in 2023 will increase by 400 UAH to 700. After indexing, the average pension will be between 4200 and 4600 hryvnia. These measures are aimed at improving the living standards of retirees and providing them with a reasonable level of income.
Recall that in Ukraine early spring pension payments were indexed, the increase affected more than 10 million Ukrainians. The next increase will be in the summer – in June and July.
It was also recently learned that military retirees who retire after 2018 can increase their pensions by almost 50%.
