Russia unable to sell oil gas at discount from Taman port due to drone attacks – Reuters

Sources told reporters that existing stocks will continue to be sent. However, the port, which accounts for about 7.5% of Russia’s exports of this commodity, is already preparing to stop everything.

Russia’s Black Sea port of Taman is ready to suspend the export of explosive liquefied petroleum gas via the Black Sea due to drone attacks. Reuters writes about it, citing its sources.

The publication writes that Russia has repeatedly been attacked by UAVs. We are talking about both Moscow and strategically important facilities connecting the mainland of the Russian Federation with occupied Crimea. Although the Russian Federation claims that Ukraine is behind the attacks, Kiev denies everything.

In any case, Taman Port will reportedly suspend LPG operations. Railway operators in Russia and Kazakhstan have already announced plans to limit the movement of goods in the direction of Taman, which accounts for about 7.5% of Russia’s exports of this commodity.

“Taman is suspending the transmission of liquefied petroleum gas because it is dangerous after all these attacks – the gases are very explosive,” one of the sources told reporters.

True, as journalists noted, sources have not yet specified when exactly the port will stop working with oil gas. First, existing stocks will still be shipped.

The publication writes that the concern about drone attacks on infrastructure in the Russian Federation is an example of how the war in Ukraine is affecting Russian energy supply.

Recall that the European Union reduces trade with the aggressor as much as possible. The EU’s trade deficit with Russia, which peaked at 18.4 billion euros in March 2022, declined to 6.1 billion euros in December of the same year.

It was also reported on June 1 that Ukraine raised the cost of oil transit from Russia. The tariff for pumping oil through the Druzhba pipeline to Slovakia and Hungary will increase on the first day of summer 2023.
