Pensions in Ukraine: how the length of service affects the amount of payment

Under certain conditions, citizens will have the right to retire with a decrease in the corresponding retirement age, and each year the requirements for the number of years of service will only increase.

The pension in 2023 is calculated based on the length of service, so the amount of payment depends on it. It will take at least 35 years to retire in 2028. Focus Explains how the length of service affects the amount of payment to be made from the state.

For the appointment of a pension, it is the number of years of service that will determine what kind of pension will be in Ukraine for a particular citizen. Under certain conditions, Ukrainians will have the right to retire with a lowering of the appropriate retirement age, even if they have a total length of service of 15-20 years.

What experience is required for retirement?

The Government of Ukraine has recently been increasing the amount of pensions for Ukrainians with 30-35 years of experience. Pensions will no longer be less than 2,760–3,120 UAH, depending on their age.

Every year the experience for Ukrainians will increase. At least 35 years will need to be accumulated in 2028. You can retire at 63 if you have seniority, but you need at least 20 years. At the age of 65, the opportunity is provided if the insurance period is between 15 and 20 years.

Since March 1, the minimum pension for the rest has increased from almost 2,100 to 2,520 hryvnia (for those who do not work).

Who will receive additional fees in June?

Pensioners who continue to work in Ukraine will be able to receive benefits for three months at a time in June. The amount of surcharges will be up to 1200 hryvnia. The possibility of obtaining it is provided:

  • pensioners with at least 35 years of service and receiving at least 7,000 UAH;
  • those who continue to work after retirement age and have 24 months of service as of March 1;
  • those whose pension is not transferred for two years.

Recall, on May 29, special pensions will appear in Ukraine. All persons applying for a pension must be rehabilitated as prescribed by law. Such payments will be provided to those who receive the status of fighters for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century.
