Cards of the Russian payment system Mir can be withdrawn to five or six new countries as early as 2023. Alla Bakina, Director of the National Payment System Department of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, shared these plans.
According to her, in each country there is a different attitude towards the possibility of starting to use Mir. It all depends on whether the state follows the sanctions policy of the West.
“There are alsocountries. – Approx. REN TV)who is ready to cooperate and is not afraid to talk about it. We are working on expanding the list of countries where the Mir card would be accepted. We plan to bring Mir cards to five or six new countries in 2023″Bakina said in an interview “Izvestia”.
The interlocutor of the publication noted that now the Mir system is being actively introduced in Cuba. Now the authorities of the republic are setting up POS-terminals there.
“We are following the plan with them: this summer the cards will work in the entire POS-terminal network of Cuba. We are sure that it will be convenient for our tourists. Naturally, the Cuban side is also interested in developing such relations: this is a contribution to tourism, which in the country is developing very actively”she added.
