According to Energocom manager Victor Bynzari, 85% of the electricity will be purchased from the Moldova State District Power Plant, while the rest will have to be purchased from neighbors.
Moldova plans to purchase 85% of its electricity from MoldGRES in October and the remaining from Romania and Ukraine. This was stated by Victor Benzari, director of Moldovan state electricity supplier Energocom, Newsmaker reported on September 29.
Thus, Energocom reached an agreement with Moldavskaya GRES to extend the contract for another month and purchase approximately 305 thousand MWh of electricity in October at a price of $66/MWh.
“This volume accounts for 85% of the total consumption on the right bank of the Dniester. We plan to purchase the rest of the electricity from producers in Romania and Ukraine, as well as through the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM, and supplement this with volumes produced from Romanian renewable sources and thermal power plants ,” stated Energocom.
In addition, Energocom emphasized that they plan to continue negotiations with MGRES for a longer time on the supply of electricity to consumers on the right bank of the Dniester.
It is worth noting that in March 2023, it was reported that the Moldovan state company Energocom sold 1 MWh of electricity to Ukraine in test mode.
Let’s remember, on September 21, 2023, Russian invaders hit Ukraine’s energy facilities for the first time in six months. As reported by Ukrenergo, damage was recorded in the western and central regions. Due to the attack, Ukrainians were left without electricity in Rivne, Zhytomyr, Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov regions.
On September 26, the head of NEC Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudrytsky, said that the company does not plan to implement cutback programs.
