NAPC made concessions to Hungary and Greece, trusting that Budapest would unlock 500 million euros of EU military aid to Ukraine and that Athens would not block a new EU sanctions package against Russia.
The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) has suspended the status of five Greek shipping companies and a Hungarian bank as international war sponsors. This was stated in a statement published on NAPC’s official website on September 29.
The companies in question are Dynacom Tankers Management (DTM), Delta Tankers LTD, Thenamaris Ships Management Inc., Minerva Marine, TMC Tankers LTD and OTP Bank. The decision was taken after meetings between NAPC representatives, representatives of the companies and officials of the mentioned countries.
Important
All six companies will have their international war sponsor status suspended and their removal from the list will be subject to certain conditions being met.
NAPC therefore expects that following this step, Hungary will unlock 500 million euros of European Union military aid to Ukraine and Greece will not block a new EU sanctions package against the Russian Federation.
“The Agency is always open to cooperation with international businesses and is ready to consult on the necessary steps for delisting,” the statement said.
Let us remind you that on May 4, NAPC expanded the list of international sponsors of the war by adding the Hungarian OTP Bank. All because the bank management did not cease to operate in Russia and the de facto recognition of “DPR” and “LPR”
Later, on 20 August, NAPC reported that the governments of Ukraine and Hungary were holding talks to understand the reasons for the inclusion of the Hungarian OTP Bank in the list of international war sponsors.
