According to Vladimir Kudrytsky, chairman of the board of directors of NEC Ukrenergo, in order to make the energy system more resistant to attacks by the Russian Armed Forces, it is necessary to build a large number of small power plants instead of large ones that are vulnerable to enemy attack.
Ukraine needs to actively develop new production capacity, as the number of repairs to existing energy facilities is limited and these facilities will eventually need to be replaced with new ones. This was stated by Vladimir Kudrytsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEC “Ukrenergo”, according to the report of the company’s press service.
According to Kudritsky, there is a limit to the number of repairs of energy facilities. Even if you repair a power unit damaged by missile hits 16 times, it will no longer be technically possible on the 17th time.
“The problem with our survival is that the next winter passes, we survive, and then there is the next winter. The war will end in victory. The crazy neighbor will remain. To prepare for all the other winters, we need to act today to create new production capacities.” said Kudritsky.
He also suggested building small power plants instead of large ones. This will make the power grid more resilient to enemy attacks.
“Instead of one 1000 MW power plant, there should be 100 small power plants of 10 MW. Then no one could build such an energy system even if they fired a thousand rockets,” Kudritsky said.
The head of Ukrenergo also emphasized that in order to attract investment in the construction of new power plants, their profitability must be ensured. According to him, in order to attract investors, it is necessary to provide them with clear expectations on the return on investment and guarantees of cooperation from the state.
“And in order for an investor to come and build a new station, he needs to understand two things in a period of 2-5 years. First, at what price and how can he expect return on this investment? Secondly, he needs to understand that we will come to terms with it,” Kudritsky explained.
Let us remind you that Vladimir Kudritsky previously said that power outage schedules will depend on how long the power outage in the system will be. According to him, even with a small deficit, the downtime should not exceed 4 hours.
Let us also recall that on September 12, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine announced that the media was disseminating false data regarding the initiation of power outages according to schedules from October 1.
