Russia has supported and will continue to support North Korea in defending its independence and the right to choose its own path. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this.
In his article “Russia and the DPRK: traditions of friendship and cooperation through the years” for the newspaper “Rodong Sinmun”, published on official website of the Kremlinthe president emphasized the desire of the DPRK, led by Kim Jong-un, to resolve problems peacefully.
“The country’s leadership, led by Comrade Kim Jong-un, has repeatedly expressed a desire to resolve all existing differences peacefully. However, Washington, refusing to implement previously reached agreements, is constantly putting forward new, increasingly stringent and obviously unacceptable demands.”,” Putin pointed out.
As part of this, the Russian side, as the president wrote, will continue to support North Korea in confronting “an insidious, dangerous and aggressive enemy.”
To this end, the Russian Federation and the DPRK will develop alternative mechanisms of interaction, including trade, which will be outside the field of influence of the collective West, and together resist sanctions.
In the same article, Vladimir Putin pointed out that Western countries have failed to contain and isolate Russia, despite years of efforts.
