Cash aid to retirees: Will they continue to pay aid from the UN from October 1?

WFP’s additional payments to retirees living in war zones and with low pensions have been extended until the end of 2024. Thus, everyone who is eligible to benefit from this assistance will receive payments starting from October 1. This is stated in the PFU.

The UN World Food Program (WFP) program of additional financial assistance for retirees living in areas of active or potential hostilities has been extended until December 2024. Any further extension of payments will depend on donor decisions based on available funding.

So everyone who is eligible for this benefit will continue to receive payments in October 2024. The amount paid by WFP is determined as the difference between UAH 3,250 and the current pension of a qualified retiree.

It is worth noting that in August 2023, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Pension Fund and the UN WFP launched a joint project to support retirees living in a war zone, with low pensions and no other benefits. cash aid from international organizations.

Additional cash assistance is provided to retirees in the following cases:

• receiving a pension below 3,250 UAH;
• living in areas where there is active or possible hostilities (their list is determined by Order No. 309);
• After March 1, 2023, it did not receive additional cash payments and/or assistance for living expenses of internally displaced persons from international organizations.

Let us remind you that there will be an additional increase in the pensions of Ukrainian retirees over the age of 70 who receive payments below 10,340.35 UAH, starting from May 1. Retirees will receive additional funds monthly after reaching the eligible age. The recalculation will occur automatically.
