In what cases a wife can receive her husband’s pension: description

A wife can claim her husband’s pension if he is the main source of her husband’s income.

A woman can receive her husband’s pension if certain conditions are met, for example, in the event of his death. But such a pension is not always more profitable. It may also be prescribed to family members with disabilities. This is stated on the Diya portal.

A woman has the right to receive a pension from her husband if he is the main source of her husband’s income. This payment is provided on the condition that he is unable to support himself.

The following categories of people are entitled to a survivor’s pension:

  • other spouse or parents if they are disabled or have reached retirement age;
  • Children under the age of 18 or older if the disability was identified before the age of 18;
  • children in education – until they complete their education, but are not over 23 years of age;
  • orphans – up to 23 years old;
  • another spouse, one of the breadwinner’s parents, brother, sister, grandfather or grandmother, who does not work until the breadwinner reaches the age of eight and cares for the breadwinner’s child, regardless of age and ability to work.

Survivor’s pension is determined according to the pension amount of the deceased person.

The distribution is as follows:

  • for a disabled family member – 50% of the age pension of the deceased breadwinner;
  • for two or more disabled family members – 100% of the old-age pension is distributed equally between them.

Let us recall that Economic Discussion Club expert Oleg Pendzin said that the current minimum pension in Ukraine is 2,361 hryvnia, but the real cost of living is 7,200 hryvnia.

It was previously reported that you needed to have at least 15 years of insurance experience in order to retire. However, those with less length of service can enjoy some benefits.
