Ukrenergo denied information about the possible onset of power outages in Ukraine. Previously, Centerenergo denied Vladimir Velichko’s statement about the possible implementation of programs from next week, saying that this was his personal opinion.
There is no reason for a power outage for the population in Ukraine yet. This was stated by NEC Ukrenergo in response to information spread in the media about the possible implementation of hourly shutdown schedules from next week.
The company states that the temperature drop expected at the beginning of the week may increase the level of energy consumption, but the decision to shut down can only be made by Ukrenergo experts. As of now, the company has not made any predictions regarding such events.
“As of today, there is no justification for introducing consumption limitation programs for the population. It is predicted that a drop in air temperature at the beginning of next week will actually lead to an increase in the level of energy consumption. The statement notes that the use of shut-offs (especially for household consumers) can only be estimated by NEK.
Ukrenergo also assured consumers that they will do everything possible together with the Ministry of Energy, regional military administrations and energy companies to prevent restrictions.
Introducing blackout schedules
On November 1, Centerenergo supervisory board member Vladimir Velichko said that power outages could resume from next week due to the noticeable drop in temperature. According to him, if Ukrenergo cannot maintain the balance of the energy system, there will be shutdowns.
However, Centerenergo also assured that the situation in the energy system is stable, stating that “Vladimir Velichko’s statement is his personal opinion and does not reflect the company’s position.”
“The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company, Andrey Gota, and General Director Yevgeny Garkavyy state that the determination of emergency shutdown schedules is the exclusive competence of NPC Ukrenergo,” the statement reads.
In addition, Centerenergo’s legal service is now considering the possibility of contacting law enforcement authorities to verify the purpose and circumstances that led to the publication of false information in the active phase of the autumn-winter period.
Let us remind you that on November 1, housing and communal services expert Oleg Popenko was in an interview. Focus predicted that Ukrainians with temperatures of -10°C in winter would likely have only 12-14 hours of light per day.
On October 31, the mayor of Kiev, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced that the heating season for residential buildings has begun in Kiev, but it is impossible to quickly connect all buildings to heating, since this poses an immediate threat of damage.
