Help for large families in Ukraine: what will change in 2025

The title of “Hero Mother” is given to women who give birth or adopt and raise five or more children up to the age of eight.

The status of a large family provides the right to receive state assistance, including benefits for various services, social benefits and other types of support. This is stated in the Law “On the Protection of Children”.

If a family has three or more minor children, it is considered to have many children. The total number of children also includes:

  • adopted children;
  • children from previous marriages of one of the parents living with the new family;
  • Children under 23 years of age, if they are in full-time education and live with their parents.

Large families in Ukraine can benefit from discounts on electricity bills.

A 50% discount is provided for housing and heating payments in the following areas:

  • 21 square meters for each family member;
  • 10.5 square meters per family.

Additionally, large families have the right to benefit from other services:

  • the cost of bottled gas for the stove;
  • heating with solid or liquid fuel (in the absence of central heating).

Additionally, members of large families have the right to priority housing provision. This benefit is provided:

  • families with five or more children;
  • Families in which three or more children are born at the same time.

Let us also remind you that Focus wrote that Ukrainian citizens can receive “a thousand Zelenskys” through Ukrposhta’s services. Payments will be made through postmen, fixed and mobile offices.

We would also like to remind you that the amount of alimony changes in Ukraine in 2024. Thus, the payment amount for children under six years old is now 1,281 hryvnia, and for children over six years old, one of the parents must pay 1,598 hryvnia.
