Months ago Nicolas Cage He declared himself a student of the science fiction genre, and although he does not mind the saga of “Star Wars” he considers himself a big fan “Star Trek”. Now receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Miami Film Festival. The actor has spoken out on various topics such as Marvel Studios films and especially his relationship with the superhero.

“I have to feel good about Marvel movies because My stage name is based on a Stan Lee character named Luke Cage. What should I do, ignore the movies Marvel? Stan Lee my surreal father. He called me. I understand what disappointment is (in relation to these films), I understand it. But I think everyone has a chance.”

Cage has never denied his affection for anything to do with the Superman character – down to the fact that he named one of his sons Kal-El – and in 1997 he was going to play man of Steel in a film directed by Tim Burton and that in the end it didn’t materialize: “I called him to direct and he said yes. At that time Tim had just delivered “Mars attacks”, an excellent film, but it did not get the expected results. The character we were working on looked like Superman in the 80s, but with long black hair, like a samurai, he was supposed to be very different, some kind of “emo Superman”, but it was never realized.

Finally, Nicolas noted that his favorite film genres are science fiction, horror and drama: “I like films in which people give in to the pressure of human experience … I watch films such as “Tar”. I watch all kinds of feature and independent films. I think there is room for everyone.”
