Natalya Pshenichnaya, deputy director of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, said that seven cases of morbidity with a subvariant of the centaur coronavirus omicron strain have been recorded in Russia.
She noted that the incidence rate in this sub-variant is not growing as fast as it was with the emergence of strains of “omicron” and “delta”.
“According to a number of foreign scientists, this is due to the fact that those who had been ill with the first versions of Omicron still have antibodies that still protect against new sub-variants. – BA.4/BA.5 and BA.2.75″– Wheat clarified.
The expert added that the disease with a new sub-variant of Omicron is more similar to an acute respiratory viral infection, so the number of hospitalizations will not increase.
“There is no need to renew restrictions at the federal level. At the same time, recommendations for wearing masks for vulnerable categories of the population and, of course, for revaccination every six months remain,” Wheat summed up.
Earlier it was reported that Anatoly Altshtein, a virologist and researcher at the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, predicted the end of the coronavirus pandemic in seven months.
