With the onset of autumn, many allergic diseases become aggravated. However, their symptoms are easily confused with manifestations of SARS. Allergist, Candidate of Medical Sciences Andrey Obraztsov named the characteristic features of allergies, in particular, itching in the nose and abundant discharge of clear mucus from the nose.
“Usually, patients turn to an allergist already when unpleasant symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, coughing) have been going on for too long. However, there are features that are mainly characteristic only of allergic reactions. This is primarily an itchy nose that precedes sneezing, abundant discharge from the nose of clear mucus, – said the doctor in an interview with the site “AiF”.
When the first symptoms appeared, the expert advised to do a rhinocytogram or a nasal smear for microscopy of eosinophils. According to Obraztsov, this is a simple and effective way of primary diagnosis.
