A person himself can determine cancer in himself if the tumor has arisen on the mammary glands, skin, and oral mucosa. About this in an interview with RIA Novosti told oncologist Mikhail Fedyanin, head of the chemotherapeutic service at the Kommunarka Medical Center of the Moscow Department of Health.

“You can independently determine an oncological disease in yourself with tumors of visual localizations for example, mammary glands, testicles, skin, oral mucosa, Fedyanin explained.

Symptoms, as the doctor explained, often appear only when the disease has gone beyond the first stage. It is possible to prevent the development of oncology through regular examinations, the specialist recalled.

At the same time, he advised paying attention to common symptoms, which can also indicate the presence of oncology. Fedyanin attributed to them a sudden weight loss, fatigue, a drop in hemoglobin, cough, shortness of breath, pain and indigestion. Also a cause for concern may be “the presence of additional formations in the soft tissues, in the abdominal cavity and pathological spotting.”

With the development of certain types of cancer, according to Fedyanin, there are private etiological factors. So, the occurrence of melanoma can be affected by skin exposure to sunlight, with lung cancer, smoking can be such a factor, and with hepatocellular cancer, viral hepatitis.

Earlier, the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health, Ivan Stilidi, warned that obesity increases the risk of developing cancer by up to 70%.
