In 2023, more than 100 thousand high-tech operations were performed in St. Petersburg. This was announced by the city governor Alexander Beglov during a meeting with the head of the Russian Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko.

“Over the past year, more than 100 thousand high-tech operations were performed in the city. You said that it is also very important to develop medical tourism. Today, nearby regions, but also from other regions, other countries come to us for treatment. We provide high-tech assistance to all of them,” – he said.

Murashko and Beglov visited St. Petersburg City Hospital of the Holy Great Martyr George. In 2023, the institution’s specialists provided assistance to 35,789 inpatients and performed 18,233 operations. These are record figures for the entire period of operation of the hospital. At full capacity, ten operating rooms operate in the main building of the institution.

The minister, in turn, noted that recently, thanks to the modernization of primary care, new buildings have been built. The changes mainly affected 52 clinics – they now meet the highest requirements.

Murashko emphasized that this was the reason for the improvement in indicators for cardiovascular diseases and the provision of qualified medical care to cancer patients.
