RE.UNIQLO STUDIO is a dedicated space for remakes such as repairing holes and frays in clothes, and embroidering worn-out clothes or hand-me-down children’s clothes.

Following the opening of two stores in London, England and Singapore in September 2022, in October of the same year, the Setagaya Chitosedai store in Tokyo will also open for a limited time until March 2023.

At the briefing, the company also announced its progress on “recycling of product materials.”

The usage ratio of materials with low greenhouse gas emissions, including recycled materials, has increased from about 1% to about 5% in the past year for all products planned for 2022. Regarding polyester, UNIQLO’s standard product “Furry Fleece Full Zip Jacket” will be changed to 100% recycled polyester mainly from PET bottles from the 2022 autumn / winter season, and the recycled polyester usage rate accounted for about 16%.

There is also a concern that once PET bottles are processed into recycled polyester, it will be difficult to recycle them as PET bottles made from the same material. In the sense of recycling resources as much as possible, I would like to expect progress in efforts to reuse fibers as fibers in the future.
