Shamir Fernandez HernandezMP with a relative majority of District No. 6 of the state of Coahuila, announced at a press conference, his decision to withdraw from the Institutional Revolutionary Partythe colors he defended for 25 years.
“I am fully convinced that politics is a tool that can be served, and that is why I made the decision to dedicate my life to it. For over 25 years I have built my history with the PRI as an experienced, driven and highly institutional activist, always defending at all times the noble causes, principles and values that inspired the founding of the party,” he told those present.
The legislator accused the PRI of “rejecting my ideals, principles and values, with which I identified myself and to which I devoted my life passionately.”
He explained that he does not share the ideas of national leadership and therefore would choose a new direction in his career. “To make a big mistake by not listening to the real voices of the leadership, which demands real change, to humbly lead the effort to get back to basics, to be self-critical and to abandon the imposition and simulations that have caused internal division and above all the loss of citizens’ trust,” he added. .
Thus, he resigned “irrevocably as a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party and therefore of the parliamentary group to which I belong in the Chamber of Deputies.” He believed that the current national leadership had missed the opportunity to resurrect itself as a political institution at a time of social transformation that the country needed.

He stated that the party reacts more to personal scandals than seeks to build a new social project that meets the needs of today in our country.
“I want to note that during my development in my political career, I based my actions on the firm defense of democracy and strict respect for the people’s will. I have been true to my convictions and therefore this is a decision which I make with all the responsibility that this implies, I do not lose sight of the fact that I submit this resignation with the calmness and satisfaction of an honest work in which I have put all my efforts, in all, without exception, the party tasks that were entrusted to me “
He also addressed the citizens and the real militancy of the party “with which I have developed brotherly relations, to those courageous, responsible and devoted women and men with their families, I reaffirm my sincere friendship, as well as my readiness and commitment.”
Regarding his political future, he said that nothing has been decided yet. “Right now I don’t have any offers. I would tell you that now I’m on the subject, let’s say, independent, I’ll wait for the best offers, and the truth, I’m telling you, I think we have to continue to work in Mexico, and this what I’m going to do,” he explained.

Concerning possible candidate wait for the next election, said there was no intention. “Let’s be very clear here. I have no intention of running any candidacy, and in the next, well, re-election, I think it will be at that time (…) I’m being offered nothing, absolutely nothing,” he said.
