football game

Football is sometimes my safe place, it’s the best place except when your team is down 7-0 on any regular season Saturday.

I love football, I like to sit on Saturday and watch the games in complete peace of mind. Many times, while enjoying this moment, I thought I was on my favorite day of the week, doing one of my favorite activities. It is true that sometimes this enjoyment implies some suffering. It happens that your team scores a goal, or your favorite striker misses the goal. From time to time a blunt foul occurs and you resent it if it is not called. It’s all part of the game, and so is losing. As in life and everything, in football you sometimes lose and sometimes you win. In fact, it is easier to lose than to win, and this is also accepted. It happens that there is a reasonable expectation of what can happen in a match between teams that compete in the same league and with supposedly similar characteristics.

The problem is that what happens on the court goes beyond those expectations. It happened that Saturday. goal Richard Sanchez at 15 minutes it was within the limits of a possible scenario, even that Jonathan Rodriguez, seven minutes later. It was very difficult to go into the break 3:0 and with the removal, but what happened in the second half was painful and humiliating.

As we said, sometimes you lose in football, but there are ways to do it, and this is one of the worst ways. Everyone knows that the blue fans are long-suffering, but I don’t understand how we got here, because just two years ago the curse was lifted and we became champions.

I confess that the result embittered my weekend. I have friends who are Puma fans and these days it’s easy to talk to them, rant, get angry and take it out. And with that spirit came the images of La Noria. I want to make it clear that I condemn and will always condemn the violence surrounding football.

No matter how much outrage, disappointment and discomfort there is, I don’t think it’s possible to justify the fact that the players and the coaching staff of the teams receive reprimands and harassment in person. By making this clear, I also acknowledge that I do relate to frustration.

As a result of these events, a lot of information has emerged. Club fired Diego Aguirre and his coaching staff, who have not worked for three months in office. And also there were many manifestations of the players and their environment.

The ones that made me think the most were Joaquin shaggy Martinez. He says, among other things, that at school his son is teased by classmates for the poor results of the team. I have been a Cruz Azul fan since childhood and have been a pro for many years. I am also a father. As a fan, I have been getting ridicule and memes for a long time. As a pro, I made mistakes like everyone else, like everyone else, and I had bad streaks too, but my mistakes at work never made my kids laugh at school.

The thought of that hurt me more than the loss of Cruz Azul. And that brought me to that point on a Saturday afternoon when I was sitting in my living room getting ready to watch the game. I love football partly because of that, because it’s a game. After a hard week, despite personal, work, financial and even family problems, I can always take a break by watching the game. In a very rare, very special way, watching a game sometimes allows me to step out of my world into another world for at least 90 minutes. In this isolated world, green grass and wide spaces, the biggest problem you can face is whether the black and white ball intersects the plane formed between the line on the floor and the three stick structure.

This made me realize one thing. Football pitches are special, the clothes you play in are also special. The rules are different. It is about building a separate place. Even if you enjoy the game at home or go to the stadium, we fans have small ceremonies to watch the games.

One of my biggest annoyances in the team is that they don’t show a competitive attitude, as they say, survive, and then I realized that for the players it’s their job.

I think we all know that sometimes it’s hard to get out of a difficult situation at work. The mind is saturated, we can’t see things clearly, maybe there is a solution, but we just can’t find it. A series of small failures and experiences begins to affect our mood and from this only worsens the situation. This is a cycle of negativity that is very difficult to get out of.

I don’t think that as fans we should be complacent and stop demanding good games and results, we want our team to win and do well and that fuels the industry; however, perhaps we should consider whether, in order to enjoy it at its best, we should leave football on the field or on television. When you leave these spaces and enter others, it is often frustrating and uncomfortable.

I don’t know how we got into this situation and I don’t know how we will get out of it, but maybe we will help the team more if we allow the players to focus on the next game and not worry about what their children and family will face if they lose, or if someone breaks their rules after practice.

Football is a team sport and the fans are part of it. Maybe we need to look for better ways to live this hobby and above all remember that we love football because it’s not like life because we assume it’s the best place.
