Mark Expert predicted that the Russian Armed Forces will launch a new offensive in March, so there is a risk that the allies will not have time to supply the Ukrainian army with the necessary weapons.
Western countries should immediately supply Ukraine with warplanes and long-range ATACMS missiles so that the Armed Forces have time to prepare for a new offensive of the Russian Armed Forces. This was expressed by former US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper during the presentation of his memoirs.
According to him, the West is too slow to supply Ukraine with modern weapons.
Esper believes that for a successful counterattack, the Allies should send tanks last fall. As the former head of the Pentagon warned, in the face of the threat of a new attack by the Russian Armed Forces, the West must send warplanes and ATACMS missiles to Ukraine as soon as possible.
“If they (Armed Forces of Ukraine – ed.) are going to engage in combined armed conflict, they must have not only direct fire, but also aerial fire. We must send them ATACMS, because this way the Ukrainians can go deep. In eastern Ukraine, deep into the Crimea so destroy the martyr launch pads, disable the missile launch pads, raze logistics warehouses, barracks, whatever. You need to have the right long-range weapons.” Ukraine
The former head of the Pentagon predicted that the Russian Armed Forces would launch a new offensive in March that Ukraine and Western countries will not have time to prepare for. Esper was also skeptical about the possibility of peace talks with Russia. Dialogue with the aggressor country should be resumed after the end of the war, to discuss reparations with the Kremlin.
The day before, on January 30, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Poland is ready to transfer F-16 multirole fighter jets to Ukraine, provided that military assistance is provided in coordination with NATO.
It was also reported that on January 26, the White House commented on the possible transfer of F-16 warplanes to Ukraine. John Feiner, the presidential administration’s deputy national security adviser, stressed that the United States is prepared to discuss the issue of providing such military assistance “very carefully”.
